Schlossgrabenfest

I'm sorry about updating so late and little lately but I've been kept busy with Universtity and the amazing weather here in the South. I've got a bunch of photos to share and so many ideas for blog posts but the time seems to be against me!

Anygays, like the titel says these photos are from Schlossgrabenfest, a free outdoor party organized annually one weekend in May in my new home town. The bands this year were a bit less impressive (I only ever heard of the Timid Tiger and Leningrad Cowboys before) than the year before, but nevertheless the people seemed to have a blast and Kevkev praised some reggae band I sadly missed on Saturday.

As the weather was warm and sunny, the audience in high spirits and food and alcohol were expensive, me and the guys decided to start the evening in Herrengarten. Funny enough, everyone else somehow came up with the same idea!

Short before the end I did dance on the street but I think I didn't miss much by going home early. This time I was wise enough to leave the beer and rum to better drinkers.

 Nighty night dearies.

Having travelled all the way to Hamburg a week ago, I naturally had to continue the tradition and have breakfast with Lasse again. This is coming somewhat a habit in my blog isn't it? Being a woman huge fan of cafés, I had to have my way and set sail towards some unknown cutsy place in the neighbourhood of St. Pauli. Lucky for Lasse, we didn't have to look far but just around the corner to find Cafe Klatsch (meaning Gossip in English) where we let our behinds rest.

Happy go lucky, we arrived just before the rush hour and managed to snatch a tisch for two without a reservation!

The interiors of Klatsch are sweet but the prices sadly a bit too high for everyday Breakfast. We had to cross our orders from this insanely long list, which is a fun idea and the variety will surely satiate your tummy but it'll leave your wallet anorexic. Take care not to go wild when hungry!

Then again.. I'd pay a bit extra for this comfort and company ♥

a Piece of Heaven

I'm heading soon to Schlossgrabenfest in the town center of Darmstadt. As I therefore have so little time to update about my weekend in Hamburg, I'll just show you the photos of one of my favourite shops in HH the Wohngeschwister.

The sales personel isn't as lovely as the interiors and the prices are a bit too salty for your average student but I still notice myself taking some small -ahem- items home everytime I visit this beauty. Wohngeschwister is filled with amazingly useless beautiful items from around the world to brighten up your tiny dark holes!

I enjoy walking around and touching, feeling, smelling the various surfaces and materials here. I don't know how often they change their interior or organize the items anew but I manage to get cool ideas and get inspired whenever I face the lack-of-motivation in something.

Look at the bold colours and colonialism!

Honey, what was your credit card number again..? No wait, what do you mean I'm a hamster?

Gosh, what a shame I don't have enough square meters to give all this loveliness a new home! Oh well.. if you ever pop in Hamburg, do pay a visit to Wohngeschwister. Sadly luckily? I live now too far from it to drag the bigger items to my 13 m² castle.

Have a sunny weekend buddies!

Nervous!

´the eyes of my audience are drilling through my typos. I'´m about to have a talk on blogging in my german class. Wish me Luck!

Please Don't Leave Me

I've been swimming in the sea of bureaucracy today again. About a month ago the social insurance institution of Finland sent me nasty letter calling it quits with me and my social security, because I'm part of the German working world now.  Due to that fact, I'd have to send back my personal Insurance Card and the European Health insurance card and buy myself into the German Health Insurance System!

You can imagine deep this letter made my heart fall. I really panicked as the letter says I'm no longer part of the Finnish social security since 10.6.2010 which to me translates into "We'll take away all your current social security benefits from Finland and you'll have to pay back everything since summer of 2010". Holy crap! I almost pooped my pants and started crying as imagined my life without the 500 euro student loan and how many thousands of euros I'd have to pay back the Finnish Government. Luckily I was wrong.

After a panic phonecall to my mom, who called the Insurance Institution we found out that the Break-Up doesn't concern my student loan and there's a chance to complain about the decision. I've been asking all around German opinions to my new battle and how I could prove the Government to be better off in the Finnish System. The thing is, I have very little against the German Health insurance but it costs to students about 80e per month and my Finnish one a round zero. It wouldn't really pay to work at all, if it means I'd have to spend half of my salary on an insurance I could get for free without working. Sad as it is, I really enjoy my job at the handicraft shop, feel like I'm finally making some improvement and getting friends there too.

This is what I have been doing today. My mom went through a huge googling operation to find out some legal arguments to invalidate the decision and make them concider again. I've been composing an official complainment explaining how I must belong to the Finnish System since my wages are below the German income limit, how I therefore don't have to pay taxes here nor do I then belong to the Social Security System. In a nutshell. Hopefully it's enough. I'm falling behind in my studies and don't really have time for this extra work.

That's that for now. We'll keep our fingers crossed and you tuned into the news of my health insurance battle. Nighty night birdies!

Just another Manic Monday

Headstart to weekend on Monday evening with Kevkev and Benny. On the menu: rum cocktails and vodka jelly. On the playlist... well we got from Dusty to dubstep to D12 and Busta Rhymes till 4am. H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S

I got about 3 pimples on my nose now, thanks to those treats shown in the photo and knowing the size of my tiny potato, three is a big number!

Thank you Kevin for this entlightning drawing of our night out. I appreciate the boobies you drew me.

Now that I've taken care of the weekend's compulsory partying, I can get to the
relaxing part. In an hour I'll be taking a train to Hamburg to visit my misters parents and my old babysitting kiddies. Five hours of reading my book in peace, woop woop! It's such a shame how little I go to the North anymore nowadays as I finally grew fond of HH and May is said to be one of the prettiest Months and there arent many of the City. Too bad my Duckling from Marburg can't join me, but he'll be babbling in Jena this weekend, judging a Debate tournament to be more exact ♥

Toodoloo to Darmstadt,
and see you soon my readers in Hamburg ..hehe!

100

X

I changed the background of That Turnip finally a day ago with the help of my beloved Mr. Marburg. I'm pretty pleased with it, tho I think everything looks better after 1,5 years of snow-covered-branches on the back. What say you?

This is the original photo of some 50 cranes I folded from a newspaper one sleepless night a few months back. The birdies were hanging in our kitchen window for sometime too until I in my cleaning frenzy through them away.

This post also happens to be my HUNDRETH BLOG POST which might be huge if I wasn't a loyal follower of bloggers who write 100 posts every second month or so.

I took a small trip with my fellow architecture students last night, slept late today and feel somewhat cloudy still. The weather outside has turned cold & windy again, so Downton Abbey and handiwork lure me to stay indoors till tomorrow. We're having lesson free time from the University till 20. May because of the Excursion weeks, where most of the architecture students are out of country painting and getting inspired under the supervision of our professors.

Now that our big plans for Amsterdam got buried, I guess I'll head up north to Hamburg again. Me and my friends were planning a small tour to France or Belgium, as we practicaly live next to the boarder, but somehow these things end up staying in the planning level however..

Peace and dreams people
