Housewifing

Rotting in my 13m². I'm forcing myself to study hard but I'm failing. No, I really am. There is a huge load of stuff to do on top of the up coming exams.. These multiple, complex projects are killing me softly one after another. Running out of food and caffeine supplies is one of the huge obstackles at the moment as I don't have the time to stock up my hermit cave. Oh yeah and sleeping.. Sleeping takes so much time although I've already reduced it to 4 hours per night. Would it not be awesome to be able to turn of the need of sleep altogether sometimes?

Anyhooo this is my emergency solutions to those mornings when you realise that butter and pickles (=the insides of my fridge) won't be enough to start the day.

What you don't do google translate? Well neither do I as it mostly sucks donkey balls with Finnish.

You need:
2 dl (DECILITRES) graham/rye flour u know the darker one
2 dl normal white flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
salt as your taste and conscience allows
2 dl water or soy milk normal milk didn't taste as nice
2 tablespoons oil

The experimenting cooks: add sun-dried tomatoes, herbs or seeds of your liking for more variety

You do:
Mix first all dry ingredients. Add liquids, mix them together and BAM you've got a dough. I prefer using my right hand for the mixing. Now form the stuff into flat breads and if you may, slice them lightly into four pieces on the tray. I also put some grated cheese on top but if you're planning to put marmalade on it, I'd recommend you leave it out. Cook the breads in oven about 15 minutes with 200-225° degrees. Not in Fahrenheit.

Check out Kimbra's dress. I'm not a fan of the song that much but I want need a Galaxy outfit like hers! I've been drooling over the pattern for years and got reminded of that while going through my New Years rocket photos. Oh and I made the Gif-clips all by myself too. Ain't I smart. You bet, I'll fill my blog with them in the future in my futuristic gear..

This Christopher Kane's hyper cool collection has been on my drooling list but the prices make me swallow again. Twice. Dunno what's up with the hooker heals tho. Was it really necessary to wear bunny slippers as the Queen of the Universe?

That's all folks. Photoediting was done by me with paint. What talent, what harmony. Duudu duu duu.

New Years Party

There was this photo of me shuffling with a pair of moustache, but I guess it's on someone elses camera. Thank you guys for the best laughs & randomness to crown the end of 2011.

Talk about Design

We had a super interesting lecture about design today. Our professor had brought some classic items with her such as this Arne Jacobsen chair and Stelton thermos jug, a lovely bird-like object which I've spotted in numerous magazines and shops lately, thanks to the new delicious colours.

I've been circling the safran yellow, orange and lime green birdies for about a year now but been held back by the high prices. Today I was able to get my hands on it and to notice to my great disappointment how the closing lid fails in it's attempt. Funny idea gone wrong. It's impossible to close the beak without an extra "Picnic" stopper. We'll see we'll see. I need a teapot anyways, so maybe I'll go for 0,5l version of the Vacuum jug one day.

the sea

Anyways. This all excitement got me thinking about my relationship to Design and how it differs from my German friends' opinion. What I've learned in here is that no other Nation next to mine starts collecting designer tableware from the age of  15 the latest. I don't know one single Finnish home without Iittala glasses, Arabia plates or any Marimekko patterns in it. Or if you're a Finnish person reading this, can you honestly tell me you have never owned a Moomin mug nor a Mariskooli? Even as a guy, I bet your aunties, grandmas and mother haven't left you with some of that "proper set of dishes".

neighbourhood

Hilarious and wonderous how attached we Finns are to our own design. I bet it's relatively known in Japan as well but why-oh-why do we have to have an Aalto Vase in every building? Does no-one ever wonder how come we seem to know the tableware series, the classic lamps, chairs, jewellry, fabric patterns and their designers by name? Is is just a part of general knowledge in Finnland to know what Jokapoika shirt, Kartio glass, unikko pattern and pastilli chair are and what they look like? Go ahead and test yourself, how many series from any desinger in your country can you name.

Shortly? I came into the conclusion that Finnish people have this in built hunger and radar for home made design. Cost what it may.

city center

That is what led me to discover the new Helsinki World Design Capital of 2012 muggs from Arabia. You might know or not, but I'm such a sucker for tea cups and coffee mugs of funny and pretty patterns. This everytime  it was love at first sight after I saw the pattern. The series is called "Kotikaupunki" aka "Homecity" and I really think I have to get myself at least the blue and red coloured versions. The prices hang between 15-20 euros by a quick glance at the online market, but like I said: cost what it may. My happiness set of perfect cups is at stake! They'll fit perfectly to my Ahoy Marie twins from Hamburg and even better to my Siirtolapuutarha series from Marimekko Finnland. Google if needed, I'll add photos of them one day?

Weak Knees

Lasse you got yourself a rival. This guy shot straight into my Top Three of Redheads as soon as I heard his voice. Ladies I present to you: Ed Sheeran ♥

Ohno a redhead and a cat on the same photo, I'm sold!

So thanks to my best friend, Petteri again for introducing me to something new and awesome. I'd never have discovered this myself, I know. I've been playing my Christmas present daily now! I can only recommend Ed Sheeran's album +

My Personal Heaven

The list of blogs I'm currently following is growing slow and steadily. Whereas I started as a fan of Fashion blogs, I now notice myself changing into the direction of Interior Design and Photography. Here are some of my latest finds and inspirations that light up my day..

Minna.K "a recently graduated artisan in environmental design and construction." In the blog she shares inspirations, design happenings, magazines and DIY projects with a few words and lots of pictures. This is something that keeps me in touch with the current swings of Finnish Design and Events in that field. A big bonus are the numerous Swedish blogs Minna.K links forward. Simple and chic.

Such beauty, on photo after another, it makes your eyes and mouth water. The ideas, the atmosphere! Please go and check David Prince's amazing portfolios even if you're not into Interior Design. There is a lot to choose from. This kind of treats make me want to develop myself in any artistic way possible to get any closer to snapping such breathtaking photos too one day.

A long-time favourite. Danish photographer Ditte Isager captures heaven into various magazines, including Harpers Bazaar and Vogue Living. Food, Fashion, Design, Living, Interiors and people.. this woman is a magician! I caught myself getting lost in her photos for hours sometimes.

Please please God of Design and Interior, please let me part of this Wonderworld someday.. Please let me be able to work in this field with angels such as these talents above. Lend me thy strength and wealth to develope into one myself. To surround myself with beauty of photography and furniture, with light and space.

Last of Christmas

Howdy Ho Folks! Nope. I didn't forget my blog, neither am I planning to stop writing it, I've just had a creative Winter/Christmas Pause over the holidays and into the New Year of 2012. As my readers & lovelies know, I went back home for 2nhalf weeks and am back since 8.1.

I'll start this year's posting with a bunch of photos instead of blabber (well who knows if I can keep my mouth zipped). I'm drowning with school work at the moment and the Exams are kicking in soon, so I'll just hang on to the lovely lovely memories of my Christmas holiday.

Mini-Me aka my sister

This set is supposed to give some idea of the warmth I feel at home. I love the way my mom has decorated her house: so welcoming and filled with cutsy details. She is really talented in changing the atmosphere of the interior to fit the season. My boyfriend may call us hamsters but every item here has a story to tell. We're no professionals but the Feng Shui of this hut comes from the DIY objects, second hand bargains and lots of love we rodents put into our surroundings.

Managed to spot me there?

My mom keeps all the dry foods in darling little jars & cans stored in this big glas-doored cabinet. Her theory for this solution is that she would always have loved to keep a kind of old fashioned store and likes to organize the insides.

The red pocket alignment in the ceiling is my selfmade Tea Advent Calendar

some use of my architecture studies hm?

Tiina, one of my closest friends and look-a-likes, popped in for a visit

Yes, I wore my new pajamas every day around the clock. Dunno why I have the fairy wings tho.

Photo like a painting and my personal favourite.
