Road Trip Day 2 Part Two: Aiguines

We were meant to camp on these mountains in Aiguines but the plans got overrun by a monsterous rain and thunder storm. It was infact so bad weather that we couldn't even find the site! Hungry, mood in the dirt and cold from the rain, we decided to spend our money on a nice night in a hotel! I know. Terrible.

Just kidding. We got an awesome room for three people with the price of 90 euros and were more than satisfied with it. To make matters even more dreamy, the storm passed quick enough to reveal the most beautiful sunset. Ever.

Lac de Sainte-Croix

I totally fell for this village and think it was the best stop on the entire trip. It was filled with this mystical super romantic French flair I tell you! That's why so many photos of it. I intend to return to Aiguines one day.

I'll see if I can post something of Nova Rock soon. I might be spending my Midsummer this year on the Southside Festival by the way!

Working Holiday

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I'll be off for a week starting from tomorrow to work at the NOVA ROCK in Austria. I've been a fan of the Prodigy since the age of five when I first saw "Firestarter" on TV.

Road Trip day 2: From Genova to Cannes

On the second day of our Road Trip we took the narrow serpentine road towards Genoa and Mediterranean Sea. I was busy feeling sick and photographing mostly.

A stop in Genoa turned out a mission impossible due to the crazy drivers and lack of parking space. After wasting some good 40 minutes in search of free parking or food, we then decided to move on as we needed to reach the mountains of France for camping. Thus our trip continued along the coast high way passing Monaco (as seen above), a slow drive-through by Nice, Antibes, followed by a grocery shopping in Cannes.

When in France... get some cheese, wine and bakery goodies! It was a blast trying to buy things with some broken French (I watched Jacques Cousteau as a kid) and random body language. The Froggies turned out to be much nicer to tourists than their reputation gives them credit.

It's amazing how your mood and the odds change through-out the day when you're travelling. The day started with some welcomed sun shine, amazement and laughter, followed by stressed moments in Italy, hard quick decisions, funny photos, good music, excitement on the road, worries for the weather, bickering in the car, and the euphoria of experiencing something new and feeling high for the change of scenery. Europe is beautiful!

Like I said: Situations and circumstances change fast on the Road and while in Cannes, the weather took a 180° degree turn for the worse. We were in for some serious rain and thunder while heading for the mountains to camp!

Road Trip Day 1: through Switzerland to Italy

On the beginning of May I jumped into a car with two friends and headed towards Bilbao in Spain to join a drawing exkursion from my University. Sure we could've flown pretty cheaply, like most of the other people, but sitting in the middle of Europe comes with it's perks and we just couldn't resist the idea of spending a few days on the Road before the final destination.

First day took us 7 hours from Darmstadt, through the Swiss Alps into the mountaineous (mountaneous??) North Italy. Altho the weather sucked, it seemed to make the sights only more mysterious and magnificent to me! I've never seen REAL mountains so close by, so I was naturally blown away.

These photos are from Moconesi. A small town hidden somewhere in the mountains of Italy. We stayed in a hostel the first night to avoid the high prices and crazy traffic of Genoa. The hostel itself was pretty shitty but offered a warm shower and nice enough beds. Lucky we had our own food tho, cos all the local places were closed in the evening.

picnic on the bed

Next day we took the route towards the Mediterranean, so be on the lookout for the next pictures! I've edited everything so that shouldn't be causing a delay anymore haha.
