(SULKU)

I finished and handed in my last Project before the holidays yesterday. I'm so happy, proud and relieved to have months of hard-work and stress behind me! Thank you Elena for being the most perfect partner for our Hotel Sulku.

What you are viewing now are the photos of our miniature Model (1:200). This semester we had to plan a 4-5 star Hotel for Trier West along with the Urban planning of the area close to the River Mosel. It took us a lot of sleepless nights, head- and heartaches to pull this thing through but I am glad we did and I really like the result.

For those of you who don't know:  planning, designing and drawing something this huge is quite a task! As an architecture student in Germany you are forced to abandon your friends, family and free time to your studies and pull all-nighters at your laptop in the working room. This project took us two exkursions to the site and more than 300 hours of work on the computer, at workshops and at home. Weekends and nights included.

Prior to the hand-in presentation this week (where pretty much have to wear a blaizer etc. to look sharp and attractive to be able to sell your design to the Professors) I was at the University around the clock, awake for 30h in a row, showered twice and slept for about 20min to 2 hours per night and eating 1 meal per day. I look just as shitty as you might imagine.

Nevertheless like I said I am insanely happy to have my design out there and will now finally enjoy my semester holidays for a week before the next hand-in-battle!

Forstmobil 3.0

I've been busy with University stuff as usual. This is a result of some sleepless nights. A group work yet I'm proud to say that the modell was mostly built by me.

This creation, Forstmobil 3.0, was a project in Ecological Building. A compact, movable working unit for foresters of HessenForst. It's completely selfsufficient, 15 m² big hut with a bathroom, kitchen, working space and a sleeping nook in it. The materials are all naturally nature friendly and easy to produce.

Sign of Life

Good morning,
I have returned from the bottoms of my depressive phase and hardworking mists of University. I have been giving my hundred-and-fifty-percent to finishing this one big project at school lately and since I cut down from eating, sleeping, hobbies, friends and hygiene as much as possible, blogging didn't even cross my mind.

Now, after having learned the sleeping rythm of 4h per night, eating one meal per day, having worked my eyes red, skin paler than that of an albino rabbit, and wearing my hair as dreads I have finally been able to hand in my project last week.

I'm slowly recovering but of course from January till end of March I'm not really able to sit back and sigh.

Here you have some reeeeal shitty pictures of my presentation. Looking at it now, it does seem like a childish done-in-a-rush piece of poop that it is BUT.. I'm actually really happy with my work. My layout and building can definitely afford some development but maybe I should show you some of my 1. year projects to prove that the evolving ever since has indeed been enourmous!

Is anybody interested in hearing what this project was about? What that Tetris Monster is really about and for? I'm going to photograpf it anew anygays (the lighting in my Uni corridors is shameful) so I might just as well post the better pics later?

Wish you all have been well.

Fünf Höfe

Today at the University I held a presentation about the Fünf Höfe Shopping Center in München. I think we did a fine job with Kevin and I'm so relieved it's over now. This week has been really exhausting and I feel like I'm ready for a second holiday again.

I'm quite happy with the pictures I made and was inspired even to put a small Gif-clip together, not to mention the 6min Film I made with the help of my Honeybrötchen!

What do you think?

Inspiration Trip

One Friday in August I took a day trip to the Architecture Museum in Frankfurt with Kevkev and Katrin. I'm not a fan of Frankfurt at all, but it's super convenient living next to a big city I have to admit. If you get bored with the nightlife of Darmstadt, you can jump in the train and try partying in Frankfurt, Mainz or Heidelberg instead! All convenient and cheap as I'm able to use all the local trains, busses, undergrounds and trams for free inside Hessen with my Student ID.

I imagine myself somewhat of a V.I.P tourist when travelling to different corners of Germany eventho I've lived here for more than 2 years now. I can speak German pretty fluently and am able to avoid the usual tourist traps and prices everywhere but I still feel like taking a miniholiday in a foreign country when visiting an unknown city in here. This time too, nevermind living 20 min away from Frankfurt!

At the end of the museum's visit, me and the Ks popped into some restaurant to lunch together before getting back. I usually don't dine out without my boyfriend's wallet with friends, so enjoying the sun at Zeil was quite a luxury.

yums yums!

Next time, blogging from Finland! Maybe yes, maybe not. I don't know what the capacities of my sister's laptop are and if it likes to co-operate with my camra. We'll see, no stress from my part haha.

Summer Stuff

My Honeydew is very dedicated to his hobby in debating and goes often to tournaments around Germany. Sounds nerdy at first but I tell you it is nothing the sort! Just think about the advantages in becoming a talented speaker, how much it helps you in private & professional life, how you learn to view every angle of the topic and use the language and your information to your own profit. Amazing! I think I'd like to ask my honeypie as a guest blogger to write something about this fascinating hobby!

One Sunny Sunday me and the family made a trip to pick up my mister from Greifswald from a tournament.

That evening we also celebrated his unbirthday as we had missed out the chance to celebrate the real deal due to his exams. I had to post picture of my presents to him as I quite liked my packaging haha. I'm always clueless first in what to give people on their special day but this time I made rather good findings: a COS-shirt, self-picked Rosemary and almonds from Spain and 2 pairs of silly socks (the other ones had funny faces above the toes and the other ones were made to look like geeky sandals).

i made it, thanks for the recipe mom

While in Hamburg, I insisted my honeybee to take me to the Handelskammer, as it is one of the 100 Must-See-Buildings-in-Germany according to my professors. Get ready for architecture pictures:

me!

The Hamburg Handelskammer, Chamber of Commerce, is special as it involves a smaller building of modern architecture built inside an old one. What an idea! Afterwards we picked up ice cream in one of my favourite Ice Cream Stalls next to Planten und Blomen -park and had one of our cozy typical arguments on the way home haha.

Would any of you like to guestblog to That Turnip by the way? I know I get about 40 clicks a day to my blog so there must be some readers for your stories too. Just an idea. Play with it.
